Statement of Need

The course focuses on advances in infectious diseases and their application to direct patient care.  Prevention and management of infectious diseases requires members of the healthcare team to continually update their knowledge, skills/strategies in the following areas:

Preventive strategies including vaccination, infection control and antibiotic use, COVID-19 Updates, Infectious Complications of Opiate Addiction Epidemic; International travel during a global pandemic; TB and Non-TB Mycobacterial infections, gastroenteritis, tick borne infections, sexually transmitted diseases, skin and soft tissue infections, HIV and meningitis.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity clinicians should be able to:

  • Improve knowledge and clinical skills/strategies in Infectious Diseases.
  • Evaluate the latest strategies for the prevention, recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of important conditions in Infectious Diseases.
  • Establish a differential diagnosis and initiate an appropriate diagnostic evaluation for the major infectious disease-related problems seen in clinical practice.
