Statement of Need

This course will focus on advances in infectious diseases and their application to patient care.  Prevention and management of infectious diseases requires members of the healthcare team to continually update their knowledge, skills/strategies in the following areas: Influenza, Pediatric MRSA, Kawasaki Disease, water borne illnesses, fever and rash, acute otitis media, antibiotic updates, tick borne infections, head and neck infections, pediatric meningitis, approaches to fever in the infant and more.

Learning Objectives
After participating in this activity clinicians should be able to:

  • Utilize evidenced based guidelines in the care and management of pediatric patients seen in the office setting.
  • Evaluate the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, prevention and treatment of SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19.
  • Evaluate advances in antibiotics and antivirals currently used in the U.S.
